There are a number of steps that need to be completed to become a member of the 100 Black Men of Sacramento Chapter.
1. Sponsor – Candidate must have a sponsor who has provided the candidate with an overview of the organization and conducted the initial interview.
2. Application – With the sponsors approval the candidate must complete an application, and submit the appropriate application Fee ($250).
3. Sponsor Summary – Attached to the candidates application the sponsor must write a brief summary recommending candidate for admittance to the organization.
4. Committee Review – The membership committee will review the application and the sponsor summary and make a recommendation for acceptance or for a second interview. (Candidate must have attended at least 3 meetings or volunteered at a 100 event prior to approval)
5. Background Check – Prior to acceptance into the organization, candidate must complete a background check. This must be clean in order for the candidate to be approved for membership.
6. Notification and Payment
• If candidate is approved by the committee and has passed the background check, the Executive Board will be notified for approval of candidate.
• With approval by the Executive Board, candidate must pay membership dues (this will be prorated based on dated approved.
• When candidate is accepted the Sponsor and candidate will be notified via letter. If candidate is denied acceptance, the sponsor will be notified with explanation of the candidates’ denial.
• At the next General Meeting the candidate will be voted in and pinned.
7. Probationary Period – All new members will have a probationary period of one year. During this year, the new member will become a member of at least 2 committees and complete a minimum of 50 hours of service. This includes but I not limited to attendance at general membership meetings, mentoring (after certification), and volunteering at the 100 events.
